  BLM is an ill-defined concept. Most people take it at face value and agree - black lives do matter. It all depends on how the question is asked. However there will be a marked shift if BLM was defined. For example, do you believe in defunding the police? What do you feel about “white privledge”? Should you as a white person kneel in front of black people and ask for forgiveness?

  The numbers would quickly flip if the concept of BLM was better defined. I read the poll data and it was in the 70 percentile that US voters didn’t want the police defunded, which is a central tenet of BLM. This poll was also taken days after the passing of George Floyd. The longer this chaos lasts, you’ll see that number go down. The poll reflects more than anything the shock and anger over this man being murdered by police.

  As far as Evans goes, he’s been wading into subjects he knows little about for some time now. His videos about Freemasonry for example were ill-informed and he made several false statements. In true Evans fashion, when people who were actually involved in Freemasonry attempted to correct him, he just lost his shit and called them all “anti-Cedars”, a truly juvenile trait from someone who claims such intellectual superiority. Even his personal testimony about JWs is rather mundane. It was a cringeworthy moment on the Remini show when these other members were talking about getting raped or molested by their fathers or being driven to suicide attempts, Lloyd chimes in that he did yard work once for free for his father who shuns him. That was his sob story.

  Search for his name on this forum for topics he was involved in and you’ll quickly find someone who quickly descended into paranoia and name-calling as soon as it became clear that more than a few people disagreed with him. To the few who stood up to him he was simply a bully. Like all bullies who find out that they can’t bully anymore, he fled and found a different audience. But the cycle repeats.

  Removing Historic Monuments and Statues - Does the Term "Historical" Make it Right or Wrong?

  after further review and thought, i really don't see how removing a monument or statue that may be truly offensive to a large group of people is in some way rewriting history.. i think of germany or other parts of europe.

  you don't see swastikas on buildings or statues of hitler or mussolini or other upper level generals in public.

  would it be good for a person (think jewish) to drive around a city and see hitler in a public park, even though it is "historical?

  the reason that i ask is, in the two years on this forum and you tube, i've seen ex-jw's either drop off entirely or make fewer and fewer videos.

  i know the emotional toll can be high.

  is that the sole reason, or is it cost (video) or do you think it's external pressure (legal or family)?

  I’ve always thought that this culture of crowdfunding and “activism as a career” had similar qualities to a former junkie selling dope outside a rehab clinic. Part of the reason why people feel so victimised by WT is that they constantly put in hundreds of dollars at a time when it could and should have been kept. They are given the same reasons WT gave them - “not too long to go and we’ll see this tower crumble!” and “donate now to help me release this book/documentary that is going to help thousands of people!”. People already conditioned to give money for these one-time building projects are being led down the same trail on the way out and it’s shameful. Armageddon isn’t coming, WTS isn’t crumbling to dust, so we have people enriching themselves on promises they are destined not to keep. But hey, it sounds a lot better than the truth (i.e. “I don’t want to get a real job so I’ll stay here at home, make videos and interact with JWs and xJWs alike for a living”).

  i recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.

  i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.

  who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.

  Glad I wasn’t the only one stumbled by the 7 trumpets = JW Conventions in 1920s America. It was so arrogant to make that connection and I reasoned to myself that ANY religious organisation could make the same claim by stringing together 7 public events where they proclaimed something of magnitude.

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.
